Founder & Owner of Empowering TOTS
Therese is a NJ licensed occupational therapist and registered with the National Board of Occupational Therapy. She specializes in pediatrics and sensory processing disorders. Therese graduated with her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Occupational Therapy from Towson University in 2008. Therese has been an occupational therapist for 15 years, working with children for 13 of those years. Therese started her career at JFK hospital where she worked with children from birth to 18 years of age servicing children in the clinic, schools and their homes. She then moved on to become a traveling therapist working with adults for 2 years. She realized her true passion was helping children to engage in play and daily routines with ease and comfort.
Therese has attended ongoing continuing education courses to enhance her knowledge in areas including but not limited to: sensory processing; executive functioning; self-regulation; primitive reflex integration; feeding disorders; positioning and movement for children with physical disabilities; adaptive strengthening for children with motor dysfunction; using neuroplasticity to improve pediatric learning; tone management; ocular and visual motor processing development; and fine motor development.
Therese is a wife and mom of two young girls. Her husband is in the Air Force and they recently moved back to New Jersey after living in California for 4 years. While in California she started Empowering TOTS and loved the freedom of being able to help families and children thrive in their natural environments. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and exercising.
Therese is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and maintains active accreditation with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
